Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 13, 2026

House of Joppa, LLC ("House of Joppa," "we," "us" or "our") is a small family business that sells Catholic gifts and devotional goods at houseofjoppa.com. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, our checkout, and the emails and text messages we send.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you place an order, create an account, sign up for emails or texts, contact us, leave a review, or use our wishlist or gift registry, we collect information such as your name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing addresses, order details, and the content of your messages. Payment card details are entered into Shopify's secure checkout and handled by our payment processors. We do not store full card numbers.

Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, we and the companies we work with automatically collect information about your device and how you use the site. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location based on your IP address, the pages and products you view, the page that referred you to us, items you add to your cart, checkout activity, and identifiers stored in cookies or similar technologies. Section 4 explains these technologies and your choices.

Information from other sources. We may receive information about you from our service providers and marketing partners, for example when you interact with our ads on other websites or social media, or when an identity partner described in Section 3 matches a visit to an email address.

2. How we use your information

  • To process, ship and support your orders, returns and questions.
  • To operate, secure and improve our website, and to prevent fraud.
  • To send emails and text messages you have signed up for, including reminders about items you viewed or left in your cart.
  • To show product recommendations and understand which products and pages are useful.
  • To advertise our products on other websites and social media, and to measure how our ads perform.
  • To comply with the law, enforce our terms, and protect our rights and the rights of others.

3. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it in the following ways.

Service providers who help us run the store. These include Shopify (our e-commerce platform and checkout), our payment processors, our fulfillment warehouse and shipping carriers, Avalara (sales tax), Help Scout (customer service), Judge.me (product reviews), Rebuy (product recommendations), Swish (wishlist) and Klaviyo (email, text messages, sign-up forms and back-in-stock alerts). They may use your information only to provide services to us.

Advertising and analytics partners. We use pixels and similar tools from Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads) and Pinterest. Through these tools, these companies receive information such as the pages and products you view, cart and purchase activity, your IP address and cookie identifiers. When you place an order, we may send Google an encoded (hashed) version of your email address and phone number along with the order value, so we can measure the results of our ads. We may also provide encoded lists of our customers' email addresses to Google and Meta so that we can show ads to, or exclude ads from, existing customers. These companies use this information under their own privacy policies and may combine it with other information they have to show you ads on other websites and apps.

Identity partners. We work with Retention.com. When you visit our website, Retention.com and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to associate your visit with information they or others have about you, including your email address or postal address, so that we can send you marketing about items you viewed. You can opt out of this at app.retention.com/optout.

Shopify. Shopify may use information from our store for its own purposes, as described in Shopify's Privacy Policy.

Legal reasons and business transfers. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights, our customers or others. If House of Joppa is sold or merged with another business, customer information may be transferred to the new owner.

Text messaging. We do not share or sell mobile phone numbers or text messaging opt-in data and consent with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Under some state privacy laws, sharing information with advertising partners for ads targeted across other websites may be considered "sharing" or a "sale." Section 5 explains how to opt out.

4. Cookies, pixels and your choices

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Pixels and tags are small pieces of code that send information about your visit to us or to the companies we work with. We use them for three purposes: to make the site work (for example, to remember your cart and complete checkout), to understand how the site is used (analytics), and to advertise and send marketing (marketing).

Our cookie banner. For visitors in California, Florida, Pennsylvania, the European Union and European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we display a cookie banner that lets you accept or decline analytics and marketing technologies. If you decline, the advertising and analytics pixels described above (including those from Meta, Google, Pinterest and Retention.com) do not run. Some tools that power features of the site, such as Klaviyo's email sign-up forms and back-in-stock alerts, may collect information about your visit before you make a choice.

Other choices. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site, such as the cart, may not work without them. You can manage ad personalization in your Google and Meta account settings, and opt out of interest-based ads from many companies at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.

Do Not Track. Our website does not respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals.

Emails and texts. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time with the link in any email. You can stop text messages by replying STOP. We may still send messages about your orders.

5. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • know what personal information we have collected about you and how we use and share it, and get a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct or delete your personal information;
  • opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information, or its use for targeted advertising; and
  • appeal our decision on your request.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

How to make a request. Email us at hello@houseofjoppa.com with the subject line "Privacy Request," or write to us at the address below. To opt out of sharing for targeted advertising, you can also decline in our cookie banner where it appears, or use the "Your Privacy Choices" page linked in our website footer. We will need to verify your identity before acting on some requests, usually by confirming information you have given us. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, and we may ask the agent for proof of their authority. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response with the subject line "Privacy Appeal."

Additional information for California residents. In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (such as name, email address, phone number, postal address, IP address and cookie identifiers); commercial information (such as orders and products viewed); internet and other electronic activity (such as browsing activity on our site); approximate location; and inferences our advertising partners may draw about your interests. We collect this information from you, from your device, and from our service providers and marketing partners, for the purposes described in Section 2. We disclose it to the categories of recipients described in Section 3. In the past 12 months, we may have shared identifiers, commercial information and internet activity with advertising and identity partners for targeted advertising. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. California residents may also request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes under California Civil Code Section 1798.83, using the contact details below.

6. How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy. Order and tax records are kept for as long as the law requires. Marketing information is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

7. Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, and our checkout is provided by Shopify, which processes payments under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. No method of storing or sending information over the internet is completely secure.

8. Children

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Where information is processed

We are located in the United States, and the information we collect is stored and processed in the United States by us and our service providers.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. If we make material changes, we will post a notice on our website.
